Workshop Testimonials

I hugely enjoy running the workshops and masterclasses even though some of the constant early mornings and late evenings can take a toll.  There is nothing like the earnest excitement of a group keen to get on with it and learn as much as possible to drive all thoughts of fatigue away even though the weather doesn't always play ball.

Below are just a few of the comments with associated workshop/masterclass photographs graciously provided by some of the guests and HERE a link to a blog page from one of the attendees.

For those that have already participated in a workshop or masterclass and would like occasional feedback on their work you can join Flickr and thence request an invitation to join the Transient Light Group  this was very kindly set up by David Breen one of the course participants with the idea of providing a forum page for information/picture exchange to show off the images taken on participants respective workshops.

Rod King - Moray Workshop May 08

"Just to say how much I enjoyed the Moray workshop. After a quick check some of the photos are truly amazing, my best ever".

Phil Hulme – Glencoe Masterclass Feb 08

"Thanks again for a great course. That Rannoch Moor shot so impressed a neighbour of mine that she commissioned me to take a photo of a local tarn up in the hills. I was there with my gear at 7:30 this morning waiting for sunrise. I used the spotmeter and my ND grads, employing all the tips and advice you passed on and managed to take an excellent shot - which even I'm happy with, which is a big difference since taking your course.

I think my neighbour will be pleased to, and who knows the word might get around".

Mark Ashpole – Skye Workshop Oct 07

"I'd just like to thank you for a very enjoyable weekend in Skye, and although the weather was a bit miserable it didn't dampen my spirits and in fact added to the mood and mystique of some of my photos. Also I feel I learnt some new skills and techniques with my time spent with you which I have found invaluable, and is already having an effect on my photography.

As I mentioned to you at the time, I hope to come up to the Moray workshop in the summer (finances depending), so hopefully I'll speak to you soon".

Andrew Carothers – Glencoe Masterclass Nov 07

"It was great fun, in spite of the weather, and I learnt a lot of useful things. Having now looked through my images, I think there are probably at least 10 that are worth working up into full-size prints -not bad for a weekend's work!

Many thanks for your help. I will no doubt be tempted to try another of your courses at some stage".

Kenny Gibson – Skye Workshop Apr 08

"Just a few words to thank you for all your help on the course. It was great to receive such great instruction in a simple format that anyone could understand. I was greatly impressed by the fact that nothing was too much trouble when advice was required or assistance needed. Together with the great locations and great instruction I had a great weekend. I look forward to getting prints made from my slides and from the digital as well. I would definitely recommend your courses to anyone and I will more than likely trouble you for more instruction in the future. The course was money well spent and great value".

Wendy Smith – Glencoe Masterclass Feb 08

"I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend despite, or because of the
weather! I learned an awful lot and am beginning to see images in a different way".

Jason Liversedge - Inverpolly Masterclass Sept 08.

"Thanks Ian for a second inspiring weekend in the Highlands of Scotland. The amazing sunrises, the fantastic changes in light, and the quality of the tuition has taken my photography to a new level. The weekend has opened my eyes and shown me, not just the technical side of taking a photograph, but what it takes to look at the landscape as a true photographer. My challenge now is to stay at that level, and I believe I can do this if I keep in mind all that I learned over the four days we had in Inverpolly. Pies all round"!

Steve Hodgson - Inverpolly Masterclass Sept 08

Your photographic talent speaks for itself Ian, but only your pupils can speak for your talents as an instructor. Having attended 2 Masterclasses I have nothing but praise, thank you. The high standards applied to your photography are also applied to your tuition. As a result, the sense of achievement experienced by all pupils makes the course worth every penny. Equally noteworthy is your total commitment in terms of time and effort applied to every day of the course. To anyone considering booking a course; go on treat yourself - you will not regret it!

Joyce McCallum - Inverpolly Masterclass  March 09

I learnt more in these four days than I have learnt over the entire time I have been taking photographs. Ian was patient and thorough, and despite the fact that I was technically less competent than the rest of the group, he made time to teach me new techniques without compromising his time with the other group members. Unlucky with the weather as we were, Ian still filled all four days with interesting and inspiring locations. I came away feeling totally inspired and with new confidence in my potential to create strong images.

Malc Richings - Moray 1-2-1 Tuition Day  Sept 09

I would like to say how much I enjoyed the recent workshop with Ian, and if you are thinking of going on one of the workshops, don’t hesitate, just do it, as you will pick up a load of information.

Martin & Alenka Sojka - Glencoe Masterclass  Dec 09

We had the pleasure to spend an extended weekend on a landscape photography workshop organized by Ian Cameron in Glencoe, Scotland.   The weather changed on the day we arrived and stayed truly amazing during all four days.  There were six of us and we had lots of fun exploring and photographing the Glencoe & Rannoch Moor area from early morning to evening twilight every day.  Organisation was top notch and Ian was very supportive during our stay.   Yes, he is a very passionate photographer and a great teacher too.  It just couldn't get any better.
