A perfectly still summer morning in the pre-dawn blue twilight some twenty minutes before sunrise and already the mist hanging wraith like over the surface has begun to stir and imperceptibly lift.  A few minutes later the mist flushed pink at the merest whiff of sunlight and seconds later the magical moment evaporated.
