Winter Loch Cluanie   Loch Cluanie, Glen Shiel, Scotland

A huge dump of snow deposits itself over Glen Shiel the surrounding mountains and the dammed Loch Cluanie.  The changing water levels of this manmade loch create almost lunar landscapes with sunken tree roots becoming evident at low water.  I usually pass it by with a wistful glance promising to return and shoot it but it was this pristine winter landscape that finally encouraged me to pull over and wade through two feet of snow down to the shoreline where I was met with a staggeringly beautiful unblemished scenery.
