Beech Lichen   Rogie Falls, Contin, Scotland

On a warm winter day following a dawn snowfall the tiny accumulation of snow that fluttered down upon this beech woods next to Rogie falls quickly dispersed to leave the twigs and remaining beech leaves covered in heavy droplets of water which glistened in the soft light.  I used a limited depth of field to hold the foreground beech ladder of trunks and limbs sharp and let the backdrop fall away to quiet oblivion in order to let the important elements to remain defined.  The backdrop having at least equal importance with that of  the sharply etched subject.
