Blizzard Flakstad Church Flakstad, Lofoten, Norway
Flakstad has this lovely wee red Russian style church close to it's beach. It looks pretty photogenic at anytime but I thought it was mesmerisingly beautiful during a very intense blizzard with the backdrop of the mountains all but completely vanished. One serendipitous moment occurred. In my haste to set up the camera for a shot at the height of the snow I accidentally applied an in camera softening filter to the image. So despite my intention to freeze the snowflakes by using a high ISO of 1000 or so. I then accidentally softened it's appearance. I am very glad I bumped the filter on because I think the effect is charming and appropriate. Needless to say I took some at different shutter speeds and removed the filtration for other shots.
