Fingal's Cave 2   Staffa, Inner Hebrides, Scotland

Staffa a tiny island 6 miles off the coast of Mull has an icon, Fingal's Cave, this remarkable island is almost entirely composed of basalt columns and it is at it's most spectacular at Fingal's Cave where the algaes provide some spectacular colours on the rocky columns with their hexagonal cross section.  It really is the Giants Causeway on steroids.  This one shows a large surging wave which fills the cavity on the inflow and the surging emptying of the gorge as it emptys on the retreating tidal excursion.
