First Light Achanalt   Loch Achanalt, Strathbran, Scotland

The first kiss of dawn's sweet light softly illuminates the frozen birch and bracken quickly melting the light frost painting them ginger whilst all in shadow remains a cold and frosty blue.  These boundary conditions fascinate me and I always attempt to capture the very moment of transient change often shooting quite rapily for a few seconds before silence resumes and my camera returns to dormancy.  the whole picture is greatly enhanced by the glassy reflection at Loch Achanalts frozen shoreline, a rare privilege that permits relatively untroubled access over otherwise boggy ground.
