Island Shimmer   Atlandhu, Inverpolly, Scotland

Late in the afternoon on a winter day in Inverpolly I climbed up to a lofty viewpoint with a small group of photographers to get a distant view over the Summer Isles.  The sun was partially obscured by hanging thin cloud but was still sufficiently bright to produce some specular high lights on the sea.  The islands were forced into silhouette by the extreme contrast so all I had to really do was achieve a sensible exposure for the sun and the same for the backdrop and ensure my island shapes separated.  This proved the best compromise.
