Perfect Dawn   Slattadale, Torridon, Scotland

Under normal circumstances my preference is for cloudy skies at dawn as sunrise tends to illuminate the underbelly of the clouds and magnify the range of colours creating increased drama.  This scene though shows the bulk of Slioch and the reflective waters of loch Maree, it is mellow, gentle, delicate, so the lack of clouds creates a purity which is backed up by the perfect transition from twilight blue through lilac to banana yellow, a transition of tone that is analog in its infinitessimal buttery smoothness and utterly pleasing to the eye.
