Poplar Echos Culloden, Highlands, Scotland
As I was crossing the Culloden road on my way to Inverness I glanced sideways and saw this amazing pattern formed from rows of poplar trees and the arches of Culloden viaduct. I immediately pulled over and walked back to the small open where my vision of the scene had so quickly resolved itself. With just a little bit of lateral adjustment and from the middle of an undeniably thick and spiky hedge I was able to align both elements to the extent that the poplar trees almost seemed to slot inside the arches, like the teeth of some colossal comb.
