Splintered Loch Tulla   Loch Tulla, Highland, Scotland

Loch Tulla had completely frozen over almost to the trees on the far side of the loch but clearly the water level had changed and left a skin of ice over some of the grass tussocks sticking up on the flood plain.  The thin skin had then collapsed and fractured under its own weight leaving a crazed and contoured ice pattern as well as ice stars around the grass tussocks beneath a herringbone twilight sky.
