Torridonian Bluff   Diabaig, Torridon, Scotland

Late autumn after most of the birch have lost their leaves is an excellent time to visit Torridon for it is this time of year when the Deer grass (locally called fire grass) attains it's most vivid orangey red hue.  That colour strides across the Torridon hillsides and works so very well beneath dark clouds and the prevailing cool cast projected onto the bare rock face of the highest peaks.  I closed in on a particularly attractive clump of deer grass at the peak of it's autumnal hue and used it as a foreground for the rest of this lofty scenic.
