Winter Embers   Cairngorm, Highlands, Scotland

Almost to the top of the mountain road where the tree line begins to peter out is the last of the Scots pine.  being that little bit further up the mountain they start to grow less uniformly and with less growth density being subject to generally harsher conditions.  From here the peaks of the neighbouring hills and mountains in the Cairngorm range feel close enough to touch and the low cloud descends to a few feet above the treeline.  As a curtain of cloud temporarily parts the sunlit slope of Cregan Gorm and Meall a Bhuachaille appear.
