Winter Rose   Loch Achanalt, Achnasheen, Scotland

You either need decent wellington boots or a day so cold that the ground and water freezes to give good fitting.  I had both and was able to crunch and creak my way well into the waters edge to the frozen reeds and grass stiff with hoar frost.  The sky turned shocking pink at the anti-solar point just prior to sunrise whilst the cold chill of twilight faded from blue to grey.  As it turned out temperatures failed to wrestle their way above minus 15 degrees Celcius all day.
