The Junior Hill Running League is a small and specialist branch of cross country running. It is not the most popular event and doesn't really attract many runners particularly in the junior events, not least because running up hill is just plain hard work. It has to be said though that this event very much suits Ben Cameron, who now runs in the under 15 category, he ultimately struggles to keep up with the faster track runners, they seem to have undergone a growth spurt presently lacking in my son's physique. Ben has a relatively low cadence but a massive stride length and plenty of spring in his step relative to his small size. His endurance is particularly suited to tough conditions and terrain and it seems that all summer he goes through the athletic equivalent of the doldrums and then come the beginning of the cross country season he usually undergo's a complete reversal of fortunes.
