Hamnoy Gold

In the words os a well known Danish advert, "probably the finest harbour in the world", well certainly one of the most picturesque. I don't shoot many harbour scenes but this one is just fantastic. Blue towering walls of vertiginous Lofoten crags crash into the sheltered bay, that colour cast courtesy of a clear morning sky. The colour contrast provided by brilliant golden sunlight searing beneath a layer of thin cloud near the horizon shortly after sunrise illuminating a pristine wooden hulled fishing boat. I even waited for it to slowly rotate so that its flanks acted like a mirror and the varnish on the hull shone like burnished gold. One visual pollutant for me has always been the fluorescent pink and red buoys that are associated with any mooring but in this case the prinmary colours of the cliff, boat and buoys match the three buildings on the shore line, albeit subdued by shadow.
