Laura Muir 2
The current darling of the Scottish athletics world is Laura Muir. Still young, getting faster all the time and multiple distance GB record holder over the distances most frequently competed in such as 1500m and 5000m. Reassuringly for young runners who would like to follow in her footsteps that was far from the case in her earlier years. Competing in 2008 Interdistrict cross country champs at the same venue, she finished a mediocre 19th out of 25 athletes at U15 level and followed that up with a very lowly 19th out of 23 runners at U17 level in 2010, neither run counted towards her team total. Today of course she is world class, hard work and dedication pays fantastic dividends. Here Laura Muir is running the last leg of the 4 x 1km relays for GB and she comfortably extended a slim initial lead to win the event for Great Britain. Oh and she's a really nice down to Earth lass too.
