Receding Frost Beinn Eighe
Glen Torridon, Ross Shire, Scotland
Beinn Eighe is the Torridon valley's premier mountain peak though arguably Liathach could probably cultivate similar accolades. A hard frost had settled on the birch brush, heather and grasses over night and by morning the frost was thick and white. It is striking the rapidity with which it thaws in bright sunlight. I shot this across the Glen Torridon road trying to squeeze the birch trees on the right side beneath the envelope of the mountain peak but it is quite obvious that as the sun descends the hill the line of frost dissipates in a couple of minutes.
