Sprint Double 4

Hopetoun House, Fife, Scotland

This battle between Lewis Tharme (46) and my own son Ben Cameron (55) was for that all important 10th place slot which would mean a chance to represent Scotland in the Home Counties International between Wales, Ireland Scotland, and England. I don't know that either runner knew that but I suspect ben had an inking and as such a right old squabble for positions took place over the final 200m. Ben overtook on the straight and extended running down hill but was then overtaken on the flat grassy section 50m from the finish. Then with 20m to go Ben sprinted again just failing to overhaul the 10th place runner recording exactly the same time of 17 minutes and 15 seconds. Ben was pretty devastated when he found out he was 11th. However I pointed out that he was the third place young runner behind Ethan Carolan and Jack Patton
